Sustainable Mobility Workshop · ¥36,000

A shared sense of
direction for how
your group moves

Two facilitated half-day sessions for civic groups, neighbourhood associations, and small employers thinking through sustainable movement options — producing a written summary that captures where your group wants to go, at your own pace.

What this workshop delivers

A written summary that belongs to your group

Across two half-day sessions, your group works through current movement patterns, identifies what feels like a problem, and discusses what alternatives might look like. By the end, you have a written summary that captures what the group actually said — not a consultant's interpretation of it.

The outcomes are framed as starting points. The summary is yours to take to a local authority, share with members, or simply use as a reference when decisions come up. There's no obligation to act on it in any particular way or timeframe.

Where groups often find themselves

The conversation about mobility keeps coming up — but never quite lands anywhere

People have different experiences and priorities — which makes agreement difficult

Some members drive. Some use public transport. Some cycle or walk. Without a structured way to examine those differences, the discussion tends to go in circles rather than produce a shared picture.

Generic guidance doesn't reflect local conditions

What works in a dense urban ward in Osaka looks quite different from a smaller town in Iwate or a rural community with limited transit coverage. Advice that doesn't account for your locale isn't much use.

There's rarely a document that captures what the group actually agreed

Meetings happen and opinions are shared, but without something written down, the same ground gets covered again the next time the topic comes up. A written summary changes that.

Decisions get deferred because the options feel unclear

When the alternatives to current arrangements aren't well understood, it's hard to make a case for change — even when members privately feel that something needs to shift.

Our approach

Facilitated sessions built around what your group already knows

Before the first session, we prepare materials tailored to your locale — current transport options, relevant infrastructure, and the kinds of alternatives that have worked in similar settings nearby. Participants don't need to research anything in advance.

The sessions themselves are structured around examination and discussion, not presentations. We map current patterns, explore what's working and what isn't, and consider what alternatives might look like given your specific situation.

The written summary produced afterwards captures the group's actual direction — what was agreed, where there was nuance, and what the group identified as a sensible next area of focus. It's a starting point, not a fixed commitment.

Before Session 1

Material preparation

We prepare session materials tailored to your locale, your group type, and the current transport context in your area. Nothing is generic.

Session 1

Patterns and priorities

We examine how members or staff currently move, what works, what creates friction, and what the group values most. The conversation is structured but not scripted.

Session 2

Alternatives and direction

We discuss what realistic alternatives look like for your locale and work toward a shared sense of direction. Disagreements and nuances are noted, not smoothed over.

After Session 2

Written summary

The summary captures what the group discussed and where it landed. Outcomes are framed as starting points, not fixed commitments — yours to use as needed.

What the workshop feels like

A structured conversation — not a lecture

The sessions are designed to be productive without being exhausting. Half-day formats keep energy levels reasonable, and participants leave each session having genuinely moved something forward.

Everyone contributes

The facilitation is structured so that quieter voices have space alongside those who speak easily. The written summary reflects the full group, not just the loudest opinions.

Grounded in your locale

Session materials are prepared around the transport context of your specific area — not a national average or a generic urban model that may not apply.

Starting points, not fixed decisions

The written summary frames outcomes as directions rather than commitments. Your group remains in control of what happens next, and when.

Investment

¥36,000 for both sessions and the written summary

The fee covers both half-day sessions, the preparation of tailored materials beforehand, facilitation across both sessions, and the written summary produced afterwards. There are no additional charges for a reasonable number of participants.

For civic groups, neighbourhood associations, and small employers, the workshop offers a structured way to move a conversation forward that might otherwise stay stuck. The written summary is a tangible output that retains value well beyond the sessions themselves.

What the summary gives you

A document the group actually stands behind

Because the summary is produced from facilitated discussion rather than a consultant's independent assessment, participants tend to recognise their own thinking in it. That makes it more useful when shared with others — a local authority, a board, or members who weren't present.

Who this workshop suits

Groups thinking about how people move — not just vehicles

Neighbourhood associations

Looking at how residents move within and around their area, and what options might reduce car dependency or improve access.

Civic and community groups

Organisations considering how members reach activities, events, or services — particularly where transport access is uneven across the group.

Small employers

Thinking through how staff commute and whether there are practical ways to support more sustainable options without imposing costs on employees.

Our commitment

If the summary doesn't reflect what your group actually said, we'll revise it

The written summary is produced after both sessions and shared with the group for review before it's finalised. If participants feel it misrepresents something that was discussed, or leaves out a position that was clearly held by part of the group, we go back and revise it.

If you'd like to check whether this workshop format is appropriate for your group's size or situation before committing, an initial conversation at no charge is available. Send a note and we'll respond within two business days.

How to begin

Getting the workshop organised is straightforward

1

Tell us about your group and location

Use the contact form or write to info@metapointbase.com. A short description of your group, your locale, and what's prompting the conversation is enough to start with.

2

We confirm fit and discuss scheduling

Within two business days we'll confirm whether the workshop suits your situation and discuss timing for the two sessions. We work around your group's availability.

3

We prepare the materials and run the sessions

Once dates are agreed, we prepare tailored session materials and facilitate both half-day sessions. Participants don't need to do any preparation in advance.

4

The written summary comes to you for review

After both sessions, we produce the written summary and share it with the group for review before it's finalised. Any adjustments are made before you take it away.

Ready when your group is

Give your group's mobility conversation somewhere useful to land

Two facilitated sessions and a written summary are often enough to move a conversation that's been circling for a while. Get in touch and we'll talk through whether this workshop fits your group.
